~ Our Guide Services ~
We believe that great guides are crucial to a successful trip. Our guests are fully guided by a team of professionals committed to the sport of fly fishing for Atlantic Salmon. All are qualified instructors, they teach the fundamentals to beginners or work with seasoned anglers to perfect their abilities. Most importantly, perhaps, is the friendship you’ll develop with these great guys.
We have equipped our guides with digital cameras. Each day while on the river they will be taking photos to document your outing. A short while after returning home you will receive a CD with all the photos of your outing.
The Guides … Who make it happen! Clement Bernier, Roddy Gallon, Pat Trudel, Larry Dee and Yvan Bernard
Clement has earned the name “Hawk Eye” … very few salmon moves for your fly that he doesn’t see. He has been guiding for Atlantic Salmon for more than 25 years. His experience and knowledge of the sport are only surpassed by his enthusiasm. Clement is an expert fly tier and always designing new creations. An accomplished wildlife artist and conservationist, he is at home on the river and in nature.
The Grand Cascapedia Valley has been home to Roddy all of his life. An avid fly fisherman, he’s been fishing for Atlantic Salmon since he was a small boy. His knowledge of the Grand Cascapedia and his ability as a master boatman makes him one of the best. Anyone who has ever fished with Roddy want to do it again, if not for the fishing but for his sense of humor.
Before his guiding career at Salmon Lodge, Pat was a full time game warden on the Petite Cascapedia River. If anyone knows the Petite Cascapedia it is Pat. From its headwaters to it estuary he knows every turn and bump and most of all where the salmon are. He is a master boat handler, fly fisherman and a very keen guide. His knowledge of our rivers and his understanding of salmon habitat make for a truly wonderful experience each and every day.
The best way to describe Larry is “Enthusiastic”. It doesn’t matter what the river conditions, Larry’s going to put his clients over salmon. An avid bow hunter, he spends the fall hunting and guiding for moose and whitetail deer. His true passion however is guiding for Atlantic Salmon. His knowledge of our rivers and fly fishing is unsurpassed – a true steward of the rivers and forest, a day on the river with Larry is an education in its self. He has worked with anglers of varying shills and lives for helping beginners land their first Atlantic Salmon. On his days off you will him, where else, fishing!
Yvan was brought up along side the Bonaventure River and his passion for Atlantic Salmon fishing started way back. One of the friendliest guys you will ever meet, Yvan adds much enjoyment to an already wonderful day on the river. As a guide he has spent countless days on the Bonaventure, Petite Cascapedia and Grand Cascapedia sharing his passion for fly fishing with his guests. Whether you are a seasoned veteran looking for that 40-pounder or casting a fly for the first time, one thing’s for sure, a day with Yvan will be as memorable as they get.
